On the question how to improve things in the European parliament:
“It would be useful if we had some kind of direct citizen participation in the EU. For example, through some kind of digital solution. Using this, citizens could directly be consulted on some important issues. And instead of having a lot of intermediaries, directly consult citizens on topics that the EU is responsible for, because we have no idea who sits in parliament. Honestly, I think I never voted for any of the Belgium leaders in the EU parliament. I don’t even know them. How did they get there? What are they doing? We don’t know. And there’s no direct connection between us.”
