On how the EU affects his everyday life:
“Europe has a daily impact on me, because I’m feeling as a European. I could well say that I feel Romanian, I could say I feel Greek or adopted by the Germans. But I choose to say that I am European. In the past I had several discussions with other EU-citizens who had been involved in ethnical conflicts as well. And I asked them: “Wouldn’t it be easier to say you are European?” We are in Romania, a country where many things happened in the past. We are a mix of ethnics and it is very difficult to say which ethnic group you belong to. It would be correct to say that you belong to the culture of Europe, I said. Because that is how it is! We are Europeans and that has a daily impact on us.”
